Dr. Benne de Weger is assistant professor of cryptology at EiPSI - the Eindhoven Institute for the Protection of Systems and Information of the Eindhoven University of Technology.
With a team of security researchers from the US and cryptologists from EPFL Lausanne and CWI Amsterdam he was involved in the creation of a rogue Certification Authority trusted by all regular browsers, thus showing a principal weakness in the Internet authentication infrastructure. This work required massive parallel computation, which was done on a cluster of 216 PlayStation3 game consoles.
